Mean while, over the weekend, residents of the West Nile districts of Pakwach, Nebbi, Paidha, Arua and Koboko were not only treated to an extension of services by Uganda telecom's mobile telephone brand Mango, but a host of activity and give aways.

This was part of activities to mark the launch of the network in Koboko, the latest to be connected in the region. The locals were treated to booming dancehall music from the Mango promotion truck that punctuated several marketing skits where several locals won an assortment of items.

These included iron sheets, bags of sugar, hoes, phones, bicycles, blankets e.t.c which, according to James Mutebi, Mango's Northern Regional Marketing Coordinator, are part of a scheme of empowering the community within which Mango operates.

Mutebi said Mango is the first telecommunication company to extend its network to Internally Displaced People's (IDP) Camps that had been tagged impenetratable due to insecurity.
Mango also donated a computer to Teremunga Primary School, one of the leading schools in the area.
